Subway Franchisee Association to Hold Convention in New Orleans

The North American Association of Subway Franchisees, Inc. (“NAASF”) announced that it will be holding its annual convention in New Orleans July 23-26, 2007. NAASF, the official franchisee association of Subway® Restaurants, is inviting all Franchisees in North America to this event, which is themed, “A New Beginning.”

“NAASF is committed to hosting our annual convention in this grand city, which is home to many in our Franchisee family,” stated Jim Hansen, NAASF CEO, “it is our hope that Franchisees from all over North America will convene in New Orleans not only for education and relaxation but to help the city of New Orleans get back to business as usual.

“The contribution of NAASF to New Orleans’ meetings and convention industry is a critical component of our success and the city’s revitalization,” said Kelly Schulz, vice president of Communications and Public Relations for the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We appreciate the confidence of their leadership and look forward to partnering with them on one of their most successful events ever.”

In 2006, NAASF unveiled its Emergency Relief Fund, in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. The fund, officially named the “NAASF Emergency Relief Fund,” assists Subway® franchisees who are victims of crises and natural disasters. Select convention activities will be focused around fundraising efforts for this Fund.

“It was a critical step toward providing much-needed relief for our franchisee family,” stated Jim Hansen, NAASF CEO, “we’ll be ready and able to provide help to those who are experiencing hardships due to natural disasters and crises.

The Subway franchisee association will be centering its activities at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre and attendees will be guests at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside hotel. The Convention will also feature a trade show/exposition which will feature hundreds of vendors and suppliers; it will be open to attendees and will be accessible to the general public for select hours. “We ask the supplier community to show its support for the area’s rebuilding efforts by exhibiting,” said NAASF Chairman of the Board Kevin Brough.

NAASF, which was formed in 2000 and is based in Coral Gables, Florida, has over 5,454 members representing approximately 15,175 Subway Restaurants. Membership is free to any Subway franchisee in North America. The association maintains a Web site for its members at www.naasf.org.
